Chronic pain may never go away, and it can make your life a total misery. It may constantly niggle away and interfere with just about every aspect of your life.

It's quite possible that your problem will be with you for good; however, there are now much better ways of managing pain. Doctors now recognise pain as a medical condition in its own right, and there are even doctors who specialise in treating persistent, long - term pain. What's more, very often effective pain relief exists, and even the most resilient kinds of pain can often be lessened

Many people don't know this and they suffer in silence - needlessly. Don't let this happen to you. Read these pages and find out about pain, its causes, and what you can do about it. Work with your healthcare team to overcome your pain and get more out of life.

This website is designed so that you can pick out topics that are of interest to you. So whether you have recently had an injury that has resulted in pain, or whether you have had chronic pain for some time, you've come to the right place. We also have a section dedicated to providing information specifically for carers of people with chronic pain.

In this section, you can learn about the causes and typessigns and symptoms and treatments for pain. You can also find out about non-drug treatments for pain, including diet and lifestyle changes you can make, as well as how to get the best out of your NHS services, practical support and information for carers.
